Domes and Cottages
Rooms are split between self-catering chalets and dome cottages. Star domes put the bed under a curved window, so you can watch the stars from bed and wake up to mountain views. Each unit has a private bathroom, free toiletries, a minibar, a work desk, and heating. The kitchen is stocked with a gas oven, and there is an outdoor herb garden for guests to use.
Self-Catering and Platters
Guests cook in their own kitchens, and the team can prepare a picnic platter for the hot tub. A welcome drink, homemade iced tea, hot chocolate, marshmallows, rusks, and popcorn are waiting in the room. The honesty bar sells wine, champagne, and extra snacks, and firewood is available for purchase. Special-diet menus and room service can be arranged.
Hiking, Pools, Stargazing
Marked hiking trails cross the farm through fynbos and lead to a waterfall and rock pools, about 1 km from the chalets. The outdoor pool stays open all year and has mountain views, along with sun loungers and umbrellas. The Kolkol hot tub is set up by staff, and the outdoor fireplace, barbecue, picnic area, and games room are open to guests. Kids can use the playground and outdoor play equipment. Night skies are free from light pollution, so the Milky Way is easy to see.
Location and Access
The property is on a farm along Route 62, about a 20-minute drive from Montagu and close to Barrydale. The approach includes a dirt road and a steep single-lane section, so bring a car with some ground clearance. The valley is surrounded by mountains and fynbos, with no shops or streetlights nearby. Free private parking is available on site.
Guest Services
Check-in and check-out are private, and the team is reachable by WhatsApp throughout the stay. Concierge service, room service, and housekeeping are available, and pets are allowed. The property runs on solar power, so hot water can fluctuate. Free WiFi and free parking are included, and both non-smoking rooms and a designated smoking area are available.
“Starry Starry Night is a truly remarkable escape deep in the mountains, its serene setting providing unparalleled tranquility and breathtaking valley views. The chalets here are exceptionally well-appointed, from the thoughtfully stocked kitchens and herb gardens to the unique dome bedrooms offering incredible stargazing. It's a place that clearly prioritizes comfort and a personal touch, making a return visit almost inevitable.”
